Following the upgrade from home to pro, which appeared to run smoothly, I'm not getting a split second message on my screen which basicially says, "Not enough virtualy memory...." for about 1/10 of a second, and then the notebook reboots and repeats the process.

I've tried all forms of safe mode, with the same result. Because this was an upgrade to a brand new machine with a lot of pre-installed software, I don't want to format and rebuild the system.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. I've also tried a dos boot disk to access the hard drive, but apparently the drives were formated as NTFS, so no dice there either.

R repair option. If not work, go to last Repair Console option, type help
and look for a command that may fix it. Be sure boot sector virus protection
is not enabled in BIOS.

Write back when fixed,

As per Microsoft web site, you cannot upgrade XP Home Servicepack 1 to XP Pro without a service pack. Let me know if this is a Sony Notebook, I'll provide you the steps to install a fresh copy of XP Pro, upgrade it to Servicepack 1 and install all the Sony drivers and Applications
