OK, I had Win98SE and upgraded to XP and now when I put an audio or DVD in either drive (one is a DVD-RW, the other a DVD-ROM) it will label it correctly (audio or DVD disc) but then says "Data or no disc in drive" when you attempt to play it...anyone know how to remedy this? I've tried three different drives, two different IDE cables, and disabled everything in startup and it still does this so it must be a Windows problem...any help or suggestions would be most appreciated

thanks
shane

Before you updated to XP did you check for compatibility?
What burning ROM software are you using or came with the
drives? You may need to just reinstall the burning ROM
software..

the drives work fine, i can put in a program, data, or software disk and it works fine. it only has problem with multimedia disks like DVDs and audio disks...Windows should play an audio cd regardless of what burning software is loaded...

Have you looked in device manager under DVD/CD rom
drives, properties and try to troubleshoot the drives
from there?
