I have W98 SE on my computer. I want to upgrade to XP, but
I can't find my w98 SE CD with the product key on it.

Can I use the XP upgrade or do I have to now purchase the
full version? Thanks in advance for your response.

If you are simply upgrading, you will not need the 98SE disk. The already
installed 98SE will be the qualifier. The only time you need a qualifying
disk is if you are installing to a clean hard drive which you can also do
with the upgrade disk.

Becky, as Ron has mentioned, you won't need the Win98 CD this time around
and the XP upgrade version will work. However, if you ever have to reinstall
XP at some time in the future and are using the XP Upgrade CD, you will then
need the Win98 CD.

You don't need the Win98 product key. Just the CD. If you aren't able to
find it, I would recommend getting the full version of XP instead of the
upgrade.

Another alternative would be to purchase a used copy of Win98. If you can
find one at a cost that is less than the price difference between XP full and
upgrade, you would come out a few dollars ahead. Caution: You do NOT
want this Win98 CD to be a customized OEM CD. You need one that
contains the standard Win98 setup files.
