Hi Group,
I want ot write zeros to my hard drive then install XP.Then upgrade to Vista
as early in the process as I can. My question is, how far do I have to go
with the XP installation before I can start the vista upgrade. Any ideas
will be appreciated.

All the way. The only supported method of upgrading Windows XP to Windows
Vista is to start up Windows XP, put in the Vista DVD, then start the
upgrade process. There is no way to either partially install XP, nor to
present the CD as proof of ownership, to make an upgrade happen.

Thanks for your replies. I went through the process of the full install,
then the upgrade as shown in Mikes message but did not get an install of
vista that I could activate.
