Is it possible to upgrade from XP Home (SP2) to XP Professional (SP2) without
reinstalling the PC.
If yes, how? and what version of XP professional I have to use?

Thanks

Thats not an upgrade, in MS view.
Clean install required

That is totally incorrect.

Upgrades from Windows XP Home to Windows XP Professional are
supported, and it is perhaps the simplest upgrade of any Windows
version as the two XP versions are nearly identical with the only
substantive differences being the relatively few components and
functions that are included with Pro but are not part of Home.

In order to do the upgrade you will need a retail (blue box) version
of Windows XP. Either the Retail Upgrade or the Retail Full Install
(for computers without Windows) version will do the job. The Retail
Upgrade is much less expensive so that is what you should look for.

OEM versions of XP Pro (often sold at "full" versions) will not do an
upgrade. These versions typically come in shrink wrapped packages and
the CDs will say "for sale or distribution only with a new computer
system" or words to that effect and may also have the name or logo of
a computer manufacturer on them.

Good luck
