I am dissatisfied with the home edition of XP. I have always worked in a
business environment where i used more professional operating systems. I
don't like not having things like "backup" for instance.
My question is - what's the easiest path to move from home edition to
professional? Can I just install over my current or do a concurrent install.
Is there an upgrade software package that is cheaper than buying a full
edition?

PS - I looked on Microsoft.com and else where and I have not found a simple
answer.

Well, you can install NTBackup from your installation CD, provided it isn't
a limited OEM CD....see if

Yes, but if all you want is backup, not necessary. IF you want stuff like
offline files, remote desktop hosting, etc., you need Professional. Also,
Home supports only 5 concurrent network connections (inbound) whereas Pro
supports 10. Those are the main differences.
