I had Windows XP Home on my laptop and I upgraded to XP Professional. Now I
can't access my Internet connection which a dial up one. It appears to be a
security issue. I am the only user of the computer and so therefore I am
the administrator.
When I work my way through the Internet Connection wizard I get to the
window asking
for type of connection, the last option has the bullet and the other two
options are not available. I want to set up the account manually as it is a
dial up.
The technician at my workplace had a quick look at it, said this appears as
a problem quite frequently. Is there a way to work around this issue or am
I better to roll back to XP
Home?

You need to visit the support website of the manufacturer
of your laptop computer and search for Windows XP drivers,
including those for your modem, video adapter and any others.
After you find them, download and install them.
