I have been trying to install the Vista Ultimate update to a computer that
came with Vista Home Premium. Both are 32-bit versions. The process fails
when it reaches the “Completing Upgrade†stage. The error message is,
“Windows could not configure one or more system components. To install
Windows, restart computer and then restart the installation.â€
When the PC is restarted and the process is retried, we get the same error
message.
Where does one find the error log? What is its name? Is there KB articles or
a White Paper that explains how to troubleshoot update problems?
Better yet, what Microsoft number do I call to ask for assistance? I would
expect this to be a warranty, i.e. free, support call.
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
