Upgrade to Vista Ultimate - Explorerpatel.exe - Applicaiton Error!

Hey Group,

I just upgraded from XP to to Vista Ultimate. The problem is whenever I try
to start my laptop, it gives me the following error.

Explorerpatel.exe - Application Error.

"The Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142) Click OK to
terminate the application."

When I click OK, it gives me a blue scree, showing no desktop or mouse or
anything.

Please someone help.
 
Do you still have the option of reverting to XP on the startup screen. If
so, you should, find out what program uses that exe and uninstall it. Run
the upgrade advisor and remove anything that won't run and any kernel level
programs (A/V, firewall etc.). Upgrade again. Hopefully you backed up your
XP system before the upgrade as advised or you may just have to start with a
clean install of XP or do a manual reconstruction of XP from the .old file
if you have one.
