Upgrade to SP2 disturbs USB ports

Hi,

I have by one of my customer following problem:

- 2 PCs with XP prof. did not get Updates since a long time
- I have installed on one of them SP2 and on the other more than 100 updates
- on each PC, a special Scanner is connected via USB
- since the Windows Update and on both PCs, the scanner can be started one
time but after, both PCs must be rebooted to be able to scan again.

My customer is of course very angry about this situation and I would be
happy to have some usefull tipps...

Have you uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers/software? Downloaded any
updates for drivers or software?

Do you mean USB drivers for this PC (HP) ? I don't think that it has been
done. I could try it remotely this evening.

I just went by HP support and have installed a "fix for USB 2.0 driver
issues". I will know tommorrow whether it has helped.
