I'm planning to upgrade my Socket A system. This is what I'm leaning toward:

Athlon 64 3400+
MSI K8N Neo Platinum
1 Gb (2 x 512 Mb) Corsair Value Select Kit

Any Thoughts?

Thanks

I have a similar setup, except I went for the 3000+ and better Corsair
memory. I found it hard to justify an extra £170 for the 3400+

I can't justify the extra ?50 for a 3500+.

Not planning to overclock, so going for a low cost branded RAM.

Take a look here:
http://forums.amd.com/index.php?
at the AMD 64 troubleshooting section and read the number of post concerning
memory problems. The AMD64 seems to be a demanding system on memory (on chip
memory controller, and the additional memory "pathways"). I would stay away
from any manufacturers "Value" line.

I build my system on 1GB of Kingston HyperX PC3200....long story short, I
ended up switching it out for 1GB of Mushkin Level 1 Black PC3500 to resolve
random reboots/locking problems.

Buy the best memory you can afford- you will save yourself problems down the
road.

I'm using Mushkin PC4000 with no problems, 2x512M. By the time I
bought, they were up to double digit numbers on my motherboard bios
and fixed the memory issues.

I bought the PC4000 because it's price rose slower than all the other
ram. $125 per stick when I bought. Gotta love those big timing
numbers ;)
