Pierre,
There is NO advantage to WinXP Pro over Home UNLESS you are operating in a
networked environment and need some networking and security features that
only operate under WinXP Pro. All other features are the same between these
versions.
That said:
- Most online offers seem to be for the OEM versions of an operating system.
OEM versions can NOT be used to upgrade from any other version of OS, they
must be installed on an empty HDD. So that is not what you need.
- As already pointed out, any place that sells Retail SW will have the WinXP
Pro Upgrade version. This is the one you need and the price will be $180-199
(US) typically.
While WinXP Home is running, you just insert the Retail WinXP Pro CD and
follow the directions for upgrading as they pop up on the screen.

I have XP Home. I want to upgrade to Professional. Microsoft sites says
this is possible, but tell what to do if you DO NOT qualify, but NOT where
to find an upgrade disk to sell if you DO qualify. On selling sites I do not
find an upgrade offer. Tips as to where to find them would be useful,
