I wondered if I would have to re-install XP if I upgraded my CPU to a
hyper-threading one? If not, is there anything I need to do to access
the virtual processor under xp?

Thanks,

David

You may have to reactivate XP but not reinstall.

HyperThreading is turned on in the BIOS. (At least mine is.)

Hello David,
Depends on which hal you have installed on your system.
In device manager, what machine type do you have?
It needs to be one of these:
"ACPI Uniprocessor PC"
"ACPI Multiprocessor PC"
Thanks,

Hello David,
All you should have to do is put the processor in the machine and boot it
up.
The OS should detect the new processor and make the changes. ( unless F5 or
F7 was used during setup to force the install of the HAL)

Thanks,
