My company just bought a Dell with XP Home on it. I installed XP Pro on it
for our network. Since I changed the operating system, the screen resolution
does not give me the option to change the color quality. With the LCD
monitor disc that I got with the computer, I was able to set the settings to
1024 by 768, but the color quality only gives me an option of 8 bit. I have
tried going to the advanced tab, monitor, properties to try to change it, but
the properties button cannot be selected.
Please Help
Thanks

You're probably missing the Dell driver for the graphics card so XP is
using a default.

It may be worth looking at Dell's web site to see if you can download
the driver. If a recovery CD came with the Dell it may be on there or
it may be in a hidden recovery partition on the HD.

My Sony Vaio comes with a recovery CD with XP home on it, the drivers
are on that CD, although I have not tried to find them specifically.
The CD also includes applications and other drivers that would be lost
if I did a clean install of XP Pro.
