I purchased a computer with Windows xp. It will not let me install my old
epson printer (not digitally signed). I went to the epson website and
downloaded a driver which is suppose to work. However, it downloaded as an
..exe file which is not recognized by xp. The .exe extension needs to be
changed to an .inf extension to work. Thank you for any help.

That's the setup file. If you run it the drivers will be installed from
there. Unplug the printer and shut down the computer. Plug in the printer
and start up the computer. When you see the New Hardware Wizard, point it
to the folder where you executed the setup file.

I did what you suggested, however when I got to the New Hardware Wizard I
couldn't get the Wizard to recognize the file where the upgraded driver was
located. When I typed in the location, which I am sure was correct, I got a
message telling me the Wizard didn't find the file. I have Windows XP Home
Edition 2002 Service Pack 2. My computer is an HP Pavilion a832n, and the
printer is an Epson Stylus Photo 780. Hope you can offer another suggestion,
or tell me if I am doing something wrong. Thank you.

I downloaded a different driver from Epson, and it installed well except for
the warning message about not being digitally signed. Thank you for your
assistance.

You're welcome. I'm glad you found a solution.
