Hunter

I have just started with a company and am trying to get my
computer online. As I understand, since the network
platform uses XP Prof and I have XP Home they can not
communicate and the only solution is for me to change my
OS to XP Prof.

If this is what I chose to do, do I have to buy an entire
version of XP Prof or is there a less expensive patch or
upgrade that I could use to convert my Home to Prof?

Thanks,

Hunter

My understanding, as the administrator of such a network, is that the only
operating system option is an XP Pro Upgrade.
However, it should be possible to get access to network resources from XP
Home. We have a number of users who bought their computers from PC World and
were not advised that they might need Pro for business use. You are just
likely to have to supply user name and password regularly. If your computer
is to be used on more than one network, get the upgrade.
