Hi,
I currently have Windows ME and need to upgrade to Windows
XP pro. I have done a compatiblity test on the MS
website. Hardware compatibility issues include Printing
and Network adapters. I have a HP 950C. Does that mean
that XP won't support the printer at all? Do I just need a
new driver? I have and 3Com 3C905CPCI Network card
installed but the report states that the network adapter
is not compatible with Windows XP. What does that mean?
Software issues include Intel Graphics Technology and
NVIDIA nview desktop manager. Will I need a new graphic
card. I presently have a 32MB SDR Nvidia GeForce2MX. My
question is really can I do a clean install and avoid
these issues or will they be there regardless. I know
that these are alot of questions, but any help is greatly
appreciated.

Hi,
From experience it's always best to do a clean install.
This will prevent any conflicts between the old and new
operating system. As far as your compatibility issues,
go to the vendors website (HP, NVIDIA, and 3Com) you
should be able to find the necessary drivers to support
XP. From the list of hardware you have, I don't see you
having any issues. Make sure you back up any files,
email, bookmarks that you want to keep. When you do a
clean install, it will wipe everything out. Good luck.

Thank you so much for responding. Do you think that these
are just driver issues? If so that should be no problem.
Thanks again.
