I have a full copy of XP pro and it only gives me the
option to do a new installation(advanced). What gives?
I am going from Win me to XPpro...I need to keep all the
apps that are on the machine!!

Apparently you acquired an "OEM Version" of Windows XP Professional.
OEM versions cannot upgrade an existing Windows installation. Only
"retail versions" can upgrade. Either purchase a retail version of XP Pro
or reformat your drive to install the OEM version "clean".

If you have the "Full" OEM edition, rather than the "Full" Retail edition,
upgrade is not an option.

If it doesn't give you option to do an upgrade, it is *not* a
Full version, but the OEM version. You're not the first person to
have confused the two.

Unlike the Full version, which can do either an upgrade or a
clean installation, the OEM version can only do a clean
installation.
