Jim

I recently purchased a computer for my office that has
Windows XP Home as the operating system. I am trying to
add that computer to the office network(Windows NT Server
4.0) but have nto been successful. I have added computers
with Windows 98 without any problem. I have been told I
need to go to XP Pro-is that correct? If so, is there an
upgrade from XP Home to XP Pro?

Thanks-I tried to send an email to Microsoft to ask them
about this but have not found any get there from their web
site

XP Home can be added to workgroup. Unlike XP Pro, it cannot join a domain
but it can access domain resources. The same could be said for Win98. There
is a newsgroup on this server that is especially for XP networking topics.
Suggest posting any further questions about networking over there. You're
posting from the web interface so look in the left hand column of that page
for microsoft.public.windowsxp.network_web

Sharon answered your first question. The answer to your question about
upgrading from XP Home to Pro is yes you can use the Windows XP Pro Upgrade
version to upgrade XP Home even though it might not say so on the box. You
can also use the full retail (not OEM) version of XP Pro to upgrade XP Home.
