I acquired XP Home for my sons computer which was a old 400MHZ box. The system was registered and he has been using the unit. Unfortunately the old system has barfed a lung and I to move all his software to another PC. Can I re register the XP licence....I am only using it on one machine....I do not want to get spanked by Microsoft.....

No it wasn't registered - because registration is entirely optional - it was
*activated*. Unless it was an OEM licence you may install it on another
system - you may need to activate by phone.
