Hi I have an NT4 Server based network, with 4 NT4 Servers
PDC and 3 BDCs.

If I setup a 5th NT4 BDC and promote it to PDC then
upgrade this Server to Windows 2000? If it goes wrong can
I take the 2000 Server offline and repromote one of the
exsiting NT4 BDC back to PDC?
If not is there another way to allow roll back to old NT4
Domain.

Thanks

Mark,

Yes you are correct. The way that Microsoft recommends is to have at
least 2 BDC's. Do a sync to make certain everything is up to date.
Disconnect one of the BDC's. Upgrade the PDC which will automatically
run DCPromo. If successful then upgrade the connected BDC. Finally
connect the remaining BDC and upgrade it. If the initial upgrade of the
PDC fails you have a known good BDC that you can connect and make a PDC.
