Hello,
If I change out my motherboard,RAM and processor, will I
need to reinstall or reactivate WInXP Home? I'm going
from an Intel BX440 to 865PE chipset on the motherboards -
-thanks

You will have to do a Repair Install of Windows XP after the new
motherboard is in place. This will preserve your user data files,
installed applications and configuration settings. However Windows
updates will have to be reinstalled. Also you should ensure that your
critical data has been backed up.

Note that if your Windows XP is on an OEM "System Recovery" disk
provided by the computer manufacturer then you probably will not be
able to do a Repair Install and you should therefore reconsider the
entire project.

MVP Michael Stevens has a web page giving detailed instructions about
changing motherboards at http://michaelstevenstech.com/moving_xp.html

Good luck

You'll probably have to reactivate Windows. You may want to reinstall
Windows though. There's a good chance you'll have problems if you don't.
Might as well reinstall Windows and then reactivate it.

You will need to do a XP repair install and then re-activate it. The
motherboard is the major component that controls the XP activation.
