I recently upgraded from OL 2000 to OL 2002.

When I send a FAX, my Contacts address list is not available to the FAX send
wizard, it only recognizes shared and main identity address books, which are
enpty. My Outlook address book has no entries.

I apparently upgraded incorrectly or failed to select a correct option at
some point.

Please advise how I get my contacts address file of 1300 entries to be
recognized by the FAX send wizard.

Thx, pjl

The answer to your question depends on your Fax software, not your Outlook
version. You failed to mention that.
Also, clarify where your Contacts are actually stored.

Contacts are in personal folders in OL2002, and I'm using the FAX feature in
W2K.

Hope this is all you need.

It worked perfectly using OL2000, (what was it called, internet only mode?)

Thx, pjl

I doubt that. IMO did not "work perfectly" with Windows 2000 Personal Fax.
You must jump through a lot of hoops to integrate Windows 2000 Fax with
Outlook.

it's all a matter of perspective and expectations, right?

when I used the fax wizard, my contacts fax nums were readily available to
use and the fax went out the line.

can I get there again?

thx, pjl

Russ, I've been through the posted instructions, and no cigar.

I still get the FAX wizard and can send FAXs, but the address book in the
wizard does not show me the OL2002 contacts file with all my nums.

I'm still missing some setting to get it right.

Ideas?

TIA, pjl

Another fact. The address book that the FAX send wizard sees is the Outlook
Express related address book (WAB?).

Did I have my old OL2000 setup somehow link the OL2000 contacts and the OE
books (shared and main identity)?

Got it. I had to turn on sharing in Outlook Express address book.

I must have had this set before, but the OL2002 screwed it up when
upgrading.

Quality control issues in Redman?

Not really.
There is never any need to turn on sharing in OE.
Your symptoms suggest there is more to this story than you have revealed.
You must not have been using the Outlook Address Book before. In place
upgrades from IMO mode of Outlook are not a good idea. Install clean or
create a new profile if you install over an old version.
