Just got a new laptop - HP Pavilion zd7020 - it came with
an "enhanced" HP version of Windows XP "HOME" edition along
with specific drivers for the laptop hardware, etc.
Question is can I update the laptop to Windows XP Pro
without losing any of the "enhancement" from HP??
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

In theory, yes you can. If you do an upgrade installation of XP Pro. I am
curious as to why, if you want XP Pro, you purchased the laptop with XP Home
installed? You could have went with a Dell for a lot less money and more
features. Including XP Pro. Just wondering . . .

I own a zd7000 series myself, and installed XP Pro (with SP1 pre-included)
without any problem. But you should install the drivers for USB (pre-sp2
patch) and other drivers on the HP CDs. If by "enhancements", you mean all
the HP imaging utilities, you can reinstall them from the CDs that were
coming with your machine. Or you can upgrade your actual XP installation...

Just for Kevin : the zd7000 series are 17" widescreen laptops. Dell doesn't
have any 17" laptops. I will not even comment about Dell industrial design
"quality" ;-)
