At present I have Windows ME and I have no problems with
it.
I would like to upgrade to Windows XP.
I tried a demo CD some time ago and it included a method
of checking my system for the ease and suitability of the
upgrade.
This resulted in stating that my printer, scanner, CD
writer etc.etc etc....many items, were incompatible with
XP.
Scared of messing up my whole set-up, I shied right away
from installing the upgrade.
Now, maybe I can find the confidence to do it and I want
to get reassurance from someone that it is possible to do
it and that drivers are also easy to find and install.
If anyone can "hold my hand" and be "there" to help me,
then I might buy the upgrade and do it.
LIz.
..Please reply directly to my email address. Thankyou.

I would first look on your PC manufacturer's site and see if they recomend
an upgrade or install of XP. They may even have instructions for it. That
would be your best source of info.
Find all the hardware that the advisor says is not compatable + see if you
can get XP drivers for them.

If you can't get updated bios for your motherboard, XP may not install.

Before you begin the upgrade process, obtain and install the latest BIOS
upgrade for your computer from the computer's manufacturer. If you update
the BIOS after you upgrade the computer, you may have to reinstall Windows
XP to take advantage of features such as Advanced Configuration and Power
Interface (ACPI) support in the BIOS. If possible, update the firmware in
all of your hardware devices before you start the upgrade.

Some of these sites will have upgrade instructions.

good luck, DC
