I have a frankenputer bought off Ebay a few years back. I've done some
upgrades and am satisfied with all but the speed. Some of the newer
apps make it bog down. The mobo is an Asus P2E-M with a 300 Celeron
and 256 megs of generic SDRAM. I believe the form factor is Micro ATX.
I would like to increase the CPU and possibl;y the RAM without
breaking the bank. Also require an AGP slot for the current Matrox
card which performs so well on text. Sound, ethernet, modem can be
onboard if necessary but I do currently have separate cards for modem
and ethernet. Ideally I would like to pull this mobo and install a new
on with the CPU installed, pop in the memory, plug in the wires and
start loading software. Is this feasible? Any ideas on what to get and
where? I'd like to keep the job under $250.
TIA
