the dvd won't let me upgrade from xp home... it says only a clean
installation is possible as my os is written in a different language... any
suggestions... i don't want a clean install... I know most of you prefer them
but i do not... sugestions please!

are you booting to the cd or autorunning it in xp.
perhaps try autorunning it in xp and see if the option is available.

Sorry, no cure is possible. Unless the language of Vista and the target
operating system match, you cannot upgrade.

How can microsoft put out a release candidate version and have it not
recognize the language of windows xp.. sorry it just doesn't make sense...
are all of you sure that there is no upgrade option?

The language is recognized, that is why you get the message.
Since the code is different for different languages, you need to have the
original and upgrade language the same.
This is nothing new in Vista.
