So, if I buy the Upgrade version of Vista Premium I am under the impresion
that I can't just pop the disk in and install Vista. I read some resopnses on
here that said that inorder to install Vista from 2k you need to install in
on a different partion and have a dual boot. Or install it onto a diffrent
hdd. Is this true. Or can you have 2k on the hdd and then do the upgrade like
your upgrading from xp? Thanks, Justin

You can upgrade from within Win2K, similar to XP. You just can't do it
from a clean HD, you must have Win2K already installed (it sounds like
you do.). You don't need a separate HD or partition.

You can use an upgrade version of VHP, but you cannot do an in place
upgrade. You start the upgrade from the Windows 2000 desktop, but the only
option is a custom install. It cannot do an in place upgrade. The old
installation is wrapped up into a windows.old folder where you can retrieve
some data, then delete it but programs will need to be reinstalled from
their original media. You can use the Windows Easy Transfer (WET) utility
to migrate data and settings from the W2k installation to the new Vista one.

Ok, I get it now. I can install from 2k, but it will delete the 2k stuff. So
it is basically like a clean install on my computer that has 2k. Thanks for
the help.
