I've just installed a new hard drive and the ORIGINAL RELEASE of Windows XP
Prof. I have gotten all the service packs and updates done.

Now my question is this:
Can I upgrade to Windows XP Media Center? The computer is built for this
specifically. The Media Center disk I have is an OEM system build disk.

What is the big difference between the two OS other than drivers? I have
download all the necessary drivers for this Media Center computer myself
after I installed my original XP Prof. I just wonder if the Media Center
disk has additional software (programs) that runs on Media Center computer
or is it just basically drivers and settings?

Thanks.

MCE is more like a sideways change from PRO. MCE has some additional
software. MCE has a few functions left out.
Thus, MCE isn't an upgrade.

Frankly, I would not go very far out of my way to change from PRO to MCE.

No - it's not really an upgrade. It's OEM - so clean install only either
way.

It is Windows XP Professional missing a few domain/business functions and
with the media center application.

There is no upgrade path to Media Center, you'll need to format and install
it clean. The Media Center application is what XP Pro doesn't have, you use
it to watch TV, movies, etc, and as a DVR.
