Upgrade from NT4 PDC to 2000 AD

I am going to update a Windows NT4 PDC Windows 2000 Active Directory. When
I run the update, will all of the user / computer accounts transfer
automatically, or will this be a manual operation. Also, is there gotchas I
need to be aware of.

An inplace upgrade by upgrading the PDC first will maintain the user
accounts.
