I have small hard drive pent III, is it a good idea to
upgrade from windows 98 to win 2000? Will it use up a lot
of space? How much?

How small is the hard drive? New ones are pretty cheap now (40GB seems to be
the smallest you can get) - also make sure you have plenty of memory, and
that there are drivers available for all your hardware components for W2k.
I'd do a clean install of W2k instead of an in place upgrade - much better
performance that way - back up all your data first, and make sure you have
media for all your applications.

The following Microsoft Knowledge Base Article lists guidelines for
preparing to upgrade a computer that is running Microsoft Windows 98 to
Windows 2000 Professional. I recommend that you read and follow them.

KB250297 - How to Prepare to Upgrade Windows 95 or Windows 98 to
Windows 2000
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=250297

Keep in mind that you will not be able to use the Windows 2000 Backup
program to restore any QIC files made using the Windows 98 backup
programs file format (QIC). For more information, see the following
Microsoft Knowledge Base Article:

KB155979 - Windows NT/2000 Backup Does Not Recognize Windows 95/98
Backup Tapes
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=155979

And make certain that before you upgrade you know all Usernames and
Passwords used in Windows 98.
