I have a Dell laptop that is running Win 2000 Pro and I would like to upgrade
to XP. Is this possible? If so, how do I go about it? Thank you for any help
you can provide.

The upgrade path from Windows 2000 is to Windows XP Professional only
so you will need to purchase a copy of the Windows XP Professional
Upgrade (blue box) which should be available at any of the "big box"
computer retailers. You cannot upgrade Windows 2000 to the less
expensive Windows XP Home Edition.

Before purchasing Windows XP you need to make certain that your
hardware is adequate for the task and that the necessary hardware
drivers are available. Laptops typically contain proprietary hardware
components and need specific drivers from the laptop manufacturer's
website.

So your first stop should be the Dell website to check out any and all
information with regard to Windows XP on your specific laptop model
number. Next you need to read the article on upgrading to Windows XP
by MVP Gary Woodruff at http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpupgrad.htm

Good luck
