I attempted to upgrade a Win NT 4.0 server acting as the
PDC. The upgrade fails upon finding an uncompatable
driver for a HP M4 RAID adaptor. The server is using the
integrated RAID adaptor which I have the driver for.
There was never a 4M controller installed in the server.
There is a history with RAID problems in the past. We
were brought in to complete the upgrade and aren't sure
of the history. I did find the 4M driver in the SCSI
devices and removed it successfully. The server runs
great without it.
How can I remove all reference to this device from WinNT
4.0?
The HP Top Tools utility finds only the integrated
adaptor and not the 4M controller.
I called HP and they recommended a reload rather than an
upgrade which I would love to do. The company uses
business software installed on the box that requires 4
RAID 1 partitions. Each partition has components
registered with Windows. That's the reason for the
upgrade
