upgrade bios?

ok basically its going to be a few months before i can complete my new system, so in that time im going to have to keep using this one. Seeing as any more hardware upgrades would be pointless, i was wondering if i need to upgrade my bios. on everest it says my bios is over 2 years old and may need an upgrade, so i was just wondering how you find out what i would gain from it?
 
go to the manufacters website, check the latest BIOS and they usually give you a list of fixes and improvements.

alot of the time with BIOS upgrades you should follow the rule of if it's not broke don't fix it.

A BIOS upgrade can end in tears.
 
pheonix is your BIOS manufacturer. i mean your mobo manufacturer MSI.

if you have probs finding anything, post the model of your board and i'll take a look for you.
 
i've had a look but my board isn't anywhere on the site :/

this is one of the vanishing MSI boards. can't find details anywhere. even in the MSI archives. possibly an OEM board hense the lack of support.

if you bought the machine from an OEM manufacturer contact them.
 
ye i've just looked at a couple of things when i googled it and it looks like it was only made for the hp pavilion computers :/

ill have a look on the hp site but i doubt ill get anything
 
Looks to me like i bought the first revision of the board - i'm on 1.x and it's now up to 3.1/4 or some higher number, but i can't find a bios update list or anything.

The main reason i wanted to update was to see if i could unlock agp 8x so i guess ill have to live with it

think it's worth updateing?

It seems there are 3 bios updates on the site, one from 2003, one from 2004, and one from 2005. Should i update the bios in date order, or just not bother updating it at all

AGP x8 is another numbers game ... some 'games' run better on AGP x4

If you aint got a problem that a BIOS update will fix, don't bother.

If you do find a BIOS update ...

MAKE SURE IT IS FOR YOUR BOARD

... ;)
