I have this card for capturing videos from my old VHS and Hi* analog
camcorders. I am capturing these to save them as DVDs. I catpute in
MPEG2 format to the hard drive, edit and burn. I do this to avoid the
time taken by rendering.

Will I benefit if I were to but the AIW 9600 or the 9800 please?

I do not use the PC for games or intend to but a Digital camcorder in
the near future..

You'd do better to just get a digital camcorder with analog inputs that can
transcode to DV since you're getting one anyway. Most of the better ones
can do this.

I said I am NOT getting the Digital camcorder - due to the cost
factor.

Actually read your original post and it says you plan to get one in the
future.
Regardless upgrading your card will not benefit you in anyway for video
capturing.
Video compression and encoding is cpu and ram dependant not gpu related.

However the AIW boards based on the 9500 and later use a newer generation of
Rage Theater chip which may make a difference in capture quality--I haven't
done a side by side comparison with the older boards so can't say with
certainty.
