Some of it yes. It's possible that you will need to re-install some
applications after upgrading. It's also possible the old applications won't
work on Windows XP. Sometimes free upgrades are available from the maker (eg
for printer drivers) but sometimes the maker has no plans to make a new
version available for XP (free or otherwise). Best make a list then check
each one before you upgrade.
If you upgrade, you will retain your applications and settings. If you
choose to install to a new location, you will need to reinstall all your
applications and an will need to restore your data and settings.
Do some research before upgrading, but always prep for the worst case by
backing up everything important to media that is not affected by any
upgrades or backups.
You mean applications? No. That's what upgrade means, as opposed
to a clean installation. Besides the operating system, everything
else is kept.
But note that there are no guarantees. It's alays possible that
someothing might go wrong. It's also possible that a particular
program that works under Me won't work under XP.
