Upgrade A7N8X REV 1.06?

Should I upgrade my A7N8X-Deluxe REV 1.06 to a REV 2.0 or a different model
altogether? I have an Athlon XP 3200+ Barton. I'm already running at FSB 400
but I don't have much faith in it's efficiency as it was a bios tweak by
ASUS.

What does it matter that Asus tweaked the BIOS for you to achieve a 200MHz
FSB speed ? Would it mattter if they sent a witch doctor to your door to do
the same ?
I had a few Rev1.06 boards. None of them would do a 200MHz FSB, even with
the newest BIOS. If it's stable and you're happy at 2200MHz, stick with your
current setup. Otherwise, the Rev2 is a fine board, as is the Abit NF7-S
Rev2.

ASUS did not do a bios tweak for him............
they don't do it for anyone.
You have a choice in bios for that board, but there is no way ASUS would
"tweak"for someone.

if it works just leave it for now...but that is your choice. If you are not
satisfied maybe try the Uber BIOS's and see if that helps. As for going to a
newer A7N...from the specs I have seen for tweaking ..I would maybe go Abit
or DFI NF2 chipset boards. I have a rev 2.0 Deluxe myself and I think there
is a bottleneck in the system...mainly the board...my DFI KT400..AD77
Infinity is almost pulling the same specs and in some respects is faster.

I never said it was for me. The original MB didn't support 400mhz FSB. Even
the dip switches only say 200 and 333. So if a newer bios suddenly appears
with 400mhz FSB it seems to me it would be a bios upgrade (I used the word
tweak).

me it would possibly not be as efficient as a MB designed as a 400mhz FSB
board.

I was just asking a question.

Perhaps my reply didn't quite read the way I hoped it might. Sorry about
that Nick.

What you say about the ver 1.06 is true. The ver2.0 uses the Ultra 400
chipset, which is a little different than the one your board uses. However,
since you're running at 200MHz, you will not gain a great deal by moving to
a A7N8X Deluxe Rev2.0. If you want to _really_ push the envelope, get an
Abit NF7-S and PC4000 RAM or better. As Dino said in the thread, you can
also try the Uber(hacked)BIOS, which may allow you to push the system a
little harder.
