Hi,

I was wondering what would be best i.e. most price worthy to upgrade
in my current configuration:

1 Gb RAM 333 (PC2700) 2x512
MSI FX5200 128Mb
AMD 2500 xp Athlon
HD 2x(WD 80 Gb )
ASUS NF7S (SATA,LAN,SOUNDCARD, can run with faster ram)

is it right time to upgrade the processor to 3Ghz or shall one
wait a bit moer (max speed for MB is 3Ghz)

what makes a difference in performance?

The NF7-S is an Abit motherboard, not Asus. Anyway, first you would need to
say what you use your system for, as I could certainly recommend upgrading
that video card for gaming. You can get 3200+ performance out of that 2500+
if you upgraded to PC3200 RAM and set the CPU FSB to 200.

Personally I would wait a little while and upgrade to an Athlon64 system,
but if you have money to blow...

Are there currently any 3GHz processors that would fit on that mobo? or did
you mean 3000+?

ah yes, sorry abit it was

mainly gaming i.e. shooters/rts/mmorpg

that sounds like a good idea, maybe I will do that although it is a bit
pity getting the 2700 mem chips and then not using them.

what about a SATA drive, would that increase performance a lot?

yes well I was planning on buying a amd64 system later this autumn
when the prices have come down a bit to have a second system, my wife
are playing to play mmorpgs this autumn together (well I am planning
that at least <g>).
