Hi folks

Is there a way to use the DAT files to do manual updates of McAfee vs 8?

It would have to be a manual process. Retail version 8.x and v9.x are not recognized by the
SuperDAT executables.

You would have to extract the DAT files from a ZIP file or from a SuperDAT and copy them to
the McAfee VirusScan directory ...

C:\Program Files\McAfee.Com\VSO

Thanks David - I guessed the response would be from you (you've helped me
before). Much appreciated - I just located and downloaded a zip file - it
contains 4 dat files (clean, internet, names, scan) - does it need all of
them to be copied into that folder?

Cheers

Yes !

First disable VirusScan v8.

Right Click on the Red "M" in the System Tray
VirusScan --> disable

Copy all 4 DAT files to the; "C:\Program Files\McAfee.Com\VSO" folder.

Right Click on the Black "M" in the System Tray
VirusScan --> enable
