Hello,

Running Fight Simulator is very demanding on pc performance. I am advised to
check that my drivers for my graphics card are up to date, and to download
updates from the manufacturer.

Where do I find the name of my graphics card, and the manufacturer ?

Thanks

Everest Home Edition:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads9.html

Create a new folder named Everest and extract the contents of the download to that
folder.
Open the folder and double-click everest.exe to run the application.
Click the + next to Computer.
Click Summary.
Scroll to the section for your installed devices chip/adapter.

or Click the + next to Display to get the info for your device.

Go to the manufacturers Support > Download site and download the proper drivers for
your device. As well download or print any Readme/Install file if it is available
separately, it may be included in the downloadable driver file instead of separately.
Install the drivers per the manufacturers instructions.

Thanks, the card turns out to be an SiS651 - I see there is a windows update
wizard for it which serches for updsated drivers. It seems my driver is up

Thanks again

Never, I repeat, Never use drivers from MS Update. Always get drivers from the
support site of the PC manufacturer, Motherboard manufacturer or the manufacturer of
the device.

What is the driver version and date reported by Everest or in Device Manager.
The latest updated drivers fo rthe SIS651 are version 3.73 dated 3/16/2006 and can be
downloaded from here:

I will visit the link you gave me

Why is the MS update site so unreliable ?

Thanks again

The drivers at the link provided are newer updated drivers. The version number I
included is more than likely the driver installer version, not the driver version.

More times than not, the drivers will not be the proper drivers and cause more
problems than one needs. There are different factors to look at when getting drivers
for a device:
The device manufacturer and do they supply the drivers or are they distributed by
another manufacturer.
The PC manufacturer, motherboard used, chipset used, devices used and any
modifications the manufacturer makes to their custom configurations. Many if not all
PC manufacturers use their own custom configuration, and the safest bet on getting
drivers is from them even though many times drivers can be obtained from the device
manufacturer.
The motherboard manufacturer, make and chipset used and do they supply the drivers
or are they distributed by another manufacturer.
Using drivers from the update site is a total crapshoot which in most cases the user
loses. If drivers can't be obtained from the manufacturers I stated in the last
response, then MS update most certainly will not have the drivers.
Thanks again
