We are a small school system with limited tech support. We are using the
PICRules list to block some web sites that cause problems with our network
bandwith. The problem is that whenever we find a new url that needs to be
added to the list we have to add it to the prf file that is on our network
and then have to go to every computer and reload that prf file. I know that
if you open the prf file it will try to update IE but it will ask for the
password. We cannot leave the password blank or the students will just
change the settings back in IE. Is there any way to run the update with a
command line that we could use in a batch file? Something that would
include the password and we could run in the background? Or could we just
push the file that holds that information down from the network? If so
what file would that be? Any ideas that would help us just change data in
one place so that we do not have to go to each computer over and over?
