Updating of calculated fields

I had to reformat my hard disk and reinstall Word 2000 and
after recovering all the backup word data, I noticed that
all calculated fields in the Word documents cannot be
updated. When you right-click on the field the menu Update
field there is no update of the field as if Word was not
acknowledging the field as a calculated field. Why is that?

Has someone seen that and can help me without being
obliged to redo all field formulas in each of the
documents.

Hi Luc,

If you press Alt+F9 to toggle on the Field Codes, do you see them?

I forgot to mention in my original message that the
calculated fields are all located in a table in the Word
document. Only the calculated fields in all table cells
are not working even if they appear (with Alt-F9). A
cellmight be referring to another cell and perform
calculations based on that referred cell's content, but it
is not working.

All other calculated fields outside the table however are
working (such as the date) in the same document.

Is it caused by the fact that the table was made before I
had to reinstall Word?
 
Hi Luc,

If you select the table, then press Ctrl+Shift+F11, and then
F9, do the fields update?

If this does not help: Please show us an example of such a
field calculation (copy what's between the { } brackets)

Unfortunately, you didn't give me this field code
information:

"Please show us an example of such a
field calculation (copy what's between the { } brackets)"

Press Alt+F9 to turn the field codes on/off.
