Hi,

I have a very large collection of usernames stored in several different OU's
in ADS.

I want to update each each user account with the same settings - Profile
Path and Logon Script.

I've tried using Group Polcies (but can't find the right one to use), using
ADSI Edit tools and a few other tricks.

Does anyone know of a way to force all accounts in each different OU to have
the same settings ?

cheers

There is a tool clled ADMODIFY.EXE that will do what you need.

ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/PSS/Tools/Exchange%20Support%20Tools/ADModify/

Thanks Tim,

Good little tool, unfortuantely the util also appends the username to the
profile path, not exactly what I'm after. Thanks

Can that program be modified ?? to remove the addition of the username to
the profile path ??

I think I've found a way to do what I want using this tool. I haven't
tested it, the theory is sound

1.export the ADS user to a file using ADMODIFY.
2.This will create a text file, use notepad and do a search and replace - in
my case there is a field call profilepath=, I'm searching for that and
replacing it with profilepath="//server/users/profile"
3. (caution this is a bit dangerous) delete all the users from the OU you
wish to update
4. use ADMODIFY to import the users again.

I haven't tested it, but does sound workable. It looks like the tool was
orginally designed to export from an NT network over to an ADS 2000 network.

thanks

I was hoping I could use this tool to force users to
change their password at the next logon, but that check
box isn't available. Is there an easy way to force a large
number of users to change their password the next time
they log in? Thanks!
