I have recently installed a firewall additional to my router. Using netstat -a
from the command line revealed quite few intruders. The ZoneAlarm has stopped
the intruders but I have also had to disable both the FTP server and FolderShare
to run a clean computer.

I made the mistake of thinking all was well until today when KB832483 came along
as an update for win2K. It has downloaded OK and installed 10 times claiming to
have been sucessful, yet the icon suggest that I have further updates. The funny
thing is that these updates coming along are all of the same number.
I have now 1 unsuccesful and 10 success'es recorded for that number on my
computer, yet MS keep suggesting that it should be installed yet again.

Seem a little illogical.

I am having the same problem with windows update. I keep getting messages I
have updates (it is always the KB832438 update), the udate is 0KB. It
installs correctly. I am running 2000 SP4.

But I was under the impression that an MVP was valued; where is the
'value' if the question gets 'buck-passed'???
true/untrue

Before installing kb832483 on Windows 2000, you might have to install MDAC
2.8 Service Pack 1 first.

The value comes from posting to the correct group.
