I've seen a number of articles online that refer to policy settings for
Windows Firewall, and I'd like to use those settings via my group
policy. However, my domain controller is Windows 2000 SP4, and doesn't
have those newfangled XP objects. How do I tell my server about them? I
haven't been able to find anything on this process.

I had a similar problem. I didn't found anything to import XP group policy
template for BITS into W2K. I did the following: Edited the XP gpo template
to make it fit W2K limitations. It was some data types not supported by W2K.
Then I imported the template into W2k domain controller. Everything worked
as expected even considering my XP template was in spanish and W2k server
are in English.
If you need more details don't hesitate to write me directly 'cause I'll
need to refresh the work done some years ago...

Hope this helps, good luck

Howdy Ian!

You need to have the newest ADM-files to be able to manage new
functionality in Windows XP. Go and copy the *.adm-files off a Windows
XP (SP2) computer from %windir%\inf into your domain controller's
%windir%\inf folder. If you now create a new GP, you will be able to
select new settings (like firewall settings).

You could also download the free Group Policy Management Console (GPMC)
from Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...24-8cbd-4b35-9272-dd3cbfc81887&DisplayLang=en

and install it on a Windows XP machine. With GPMC you can manage your
Group Policies from a client (and even get a load of other features like
HTML reporting - have a look at it!).

cheers,

Florian
