Updating existing ADP with modified version

Can someone give me an idea about how to automate the process of replacing an exisiting ADP on a client machine with a modified version residing on the Network.

I could store the version information in a table and check against it to find out whether a new version exists or not. Once I do this, how would i go about copying and replacing?
