I installed the latest version 615. I tried to do an auto
update just for giggles and it couldn't connect to the
internet. By posting this I know I am on the internet...
so what wrong with the software???

In the interests of science, please try the following procedure to see if it
makes any difference:

1. Close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
2. Open control panel "Internet Options".
3. Click tab "Connections"
4. Ensure "Never dial a connection" is checked.
5. Click button "LAN Settings"
6. Check "Automatically detect settings"
7. Click OK in LAN Settings.
8. Click OK in Internet Properties.
9. Now repeat steps 2-8, but this time UNcheck "Automatically detect
settings".
10. Launch Microsoft AntiSpyware and try updating the definitions.

Please report back.

For what it's worth here's a possible work around (don't
know why it worked):
Started getting the "no internet connection" message,
despite being on the internet via dialup (surfing,
flashing green lights etc.)
Starting bashing around.
Connected to this newsgroup (webpage) via the "Spynet
Antispyware Community" option in Settings of MSAS.
Lo and behold now the "Check for Updates" option worked
and downloaded updates?????????
