updates

Can anyone tell me the proper way to apply updates? I
download them to a folder from technet or download center,
I do not use Windows Update if I can help it, and then use
the catalog. My question: shoul I install using the
security bulletin number(such as:MS03-020)or by the
release or revised date of the patch?

Any particular reason you don't use Windows update? Seems to be the easiest
way to get the most up to date, er, updates.
