My computer (Windows XP)is updated automatically and is
up to date, except for Service Pack 1. Due to dial-up
connection, I ordered SP1 on a CD and installed it from
the CD. However, it is not showing on the list of
installed updates. Question, if I install it now, will
subsequent updates need to be re-installed. (I don't have
SP2 yet.)
Thanks.

Per your subject, OS hotfixes are now supposed to be
sensitive to what has been installed before.
Per your message, you are installing SP1 which is a different
case than with hotfixes. Some patches that released as hotfixes
for XP gold or Sp1 may be retained while applying SP1, but I would
expect most to be overwritten back to SP1.

If you have MBSA installed, you can open a cmd prompt and
cd to the install directory of MBSA, and then issue
mbsacli -hf -v
to get a report of what fixes are needed, and this scan will use
info on the binaries to tell you what patches are regressed/seen
as needed.

Thank you.
