Updates & Patches Cause Help & Support Function To Not Work Correctly and A Fix For This

All,

Whenever there is a new update or patch for Windows XP and it is installed,
the Help & Support Function within Windows XP loses the functionality to use
hyperlinks to applications from the Help & Support Function page being
viewed. Instead another identical icon next the word "Notes" is added.

This appears to be a flaw in Windows XP starting with Service Pack 1 across
the board and is not specific to machine. I am actually quite surprised
more users aren't screaming about this, perhaps many people don't use this
function or assume it doesn't work and it isn't important enough to be worth
fixing.

Fortunately there is a way to fix this problem. This fix must be applied
after every system update or patch is applied.

Click on START > RUN and type in or copy & paste the following, one at a
time and clicking the OK button:

regsvr32 c:\winnt\system32\hhctrl.ocx /u
regsvr32 c:\winnt\system32\hhctrl.ocx

I don't have that problem.
Help and support work before and after patches.
I have sp1a and all critical patches, some optional patches are not
on.

Never ran your two processes.

Where did you get your info?

Hemlock tree,

From personal experience. I'd wonder what the difference would be from
those who have experienced this problem and those who have not.

I agree.
The NG has at least two types of users, those who are in trouble and
those who solve problems.
Sometimes I think I should return to my typewriter.
